Acute Pulmonary Edema during Massive Transfusion

Abstract
|
|
|
Acute pulmonary edema was experienced during the mass excision of a nasopharyngeal angiofibroma due to massive transfusion (8,000 ml of blood within 3 hours).
High FI_(02) with manual PEEP, diuretics, steroid and digitalis were given immediately.
Full recovery was observed after 18 hours of ICU care.
